The TOEIC (Test Of English for International Communication), an English-only test, is a certification edited and created by the publisher ETS Global (Educational Testing Service) based in the United States.
This test is a tool for assessing the level of professional English and is used worldwide (4.5 million people take the TOEIC® test each year). More than 5,500 companies around the world use the test as certification, including 2,000 in Europe. It is one of the best-known English certifications due to its age.
There are different versions of the TOEIC depending on the skills to be assessed:
The most common is the TOEIC Listening & Reading which measures the written and oral comprehension skills of intermediate to advanced level candidates. This test can also be done online. At inlingua we are running this version of the TOEIC.
The TOEIC Speaking & Writing measures the oral and written skills of candidates, who have an intermediate to advanced level.
There is also a TOEIC Bridge which is aimed at beginner to intermediate level applicants. Inlingua can provide this test as well.
All versions of the TOEIC certification are valid for 2 years.
The advantages of the TOEIC:
Adding the mention of the “TOEIC ®” score on your CV is a strong argument in a job search. For the employer, the TOEIC test provides an objective and reliable view of a candidate’s level.
The test questions are based on real situations taken from the international professional world (meetings, trips, conference calls…).
Content of the test
TOEIC Listening & Reading: it lasts 2 hours and consists of 200 questions in the form of multiple choice oral and written comprehension. The total score ranges from 10 to 990 points.
Listening comprehension (45 minutes): this part has four sections (description of photos, questions / answers, dialogues and monologues).
Reading comprehension (1h15): this part is made up of three sections: incomplete sentences, blank texts and reading of several contents.
The Bright test, offered by Bright language, assesses the skills of candidates in the following languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Chinese, Dutch, Russian, Flemish and Swedish.
The BRIGHT allows you to test grammar, syntactic structures and oral comprehension. It is a tool widely used by human resources departments.
The BRIGHT tests are eligible for the CPF according to the branch and are a reference for language level tests in European companies. BRIGHT tests are valid for 2 years.
Each test consists of 2 parts:
1. The written questions consist of 60 questions and relate to grammar and / or conjugation.

Available in France since early 2019, the two certifications LINGUASKILL GENERAL and LINGUASKILL BUSINESS are published by the University of Cambridge and take over from BULATS to test levels in English.
These two tests are taken on an online computer and are adaptive (the questions automatically adapt to the candidate’s level), which makes the test faster and more precise. The Linguaskill ‘Reading and Listening’ test assesses English levels from A1 to C1 + on the CEFR scale, European language levels.
The questions for the Linguaskill General test come from an everyday environment, while the Linguaskill Business is based on the life of professionals and their businesses.
The LINGUASKILL BUSINESS assessment system has international recognition in the professional environment as well as in the education sector.
The test is used in large groups to validate the English levels of employees who are taking training courses or who want to work internationally. It also has a good recognition by the large schools which accept the Linguaskill on an equal footing with the TOEIC for the validation of diplomas, hence its recognition from the recruitment and outplacement firms which are very aware of the diplomas of English.
We offer specific preparation courses for each of these tests
